James Tapera is a certified accountant, an associate chartered accountant and a certified public accountant. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in applied accounting and has a keen interest in risk management, fraud and forensic accounting. He commands all round depth knowledge of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and US GAAP. He has written a number of published articles in the quarterly newsletters of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (Tanzania) and remains a regular contributor of the ‘Professional Accountant’ magazine on technical issues. Among his published articles, he has written extensively in ‘continued series’ basis on Practical aspects of accounting for financial instruments (IAS 32 & IAS 39) and Employee benefits (IAS 19). He is also a renowned technical presenter on financial and audit issues for workshops and seminars convened by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors - Tanzania (NBAA).

Currently James is a Senior Manager- Audit & Assurance Services at INNOVEX Certified Public Accountants. He has extensive experience in consulting and audit of Corporate, Donor funded projects and Financial services clientele acquired during his years at BDO (Zimbabwe) where he served three year articles of clerkship, thereafter at KPMG (Botswana) and PKF (Kenya). In Tanzania he has been broadly involved in a number of internal and external audits as well as advisory assignments of diversified sectors, ranging from donor funds, financial institutions, manufacturing and services industries.
